Koret discontinues Jewish book awards programs

After successfully running the program for eight years, the Koret Foundation is discontinuing for the time being its Koret Jewish Book Awards program, including its award for a young writer on Jewish themes and its Jewish Studies Publications Program.

As a philanthropy, Koret’s purpose is to fund organizations and projects that present innovative approaches to addressing societal challenges. We were pleased to launch this program in 1998, and to support its growth to maturity, demonstrating the impact that Jewish book awards can have on Jewish community engagement. With a plethora of Jewish and other book awards programs now in operation, we hope that the successful national dialogue that this program has spawned will continue for years to come.

Scholars interested in the Jewish Studies Publications piece of Koret's program (JSPP), established in 1998 to provide publication subsidies to first-time authors of original scholarly monographs in the field of Jewish studies, are encouraged to explore a new publication subvention program announced by the Association for Jewish Studies.

The Cahnman Publication Subvention Grants will help subsidize costs associated with the preparation of scholarly manuscripts that explore Jewish engagement with and impact on artistic, intellectual, and cultural life. For more information visit www.ajsnet.org/cahnman.html.
