Because education and advocacy are essential tools in the fight to counter anti-Israel activities, Koret supports a range of educational, advocacy, and cultural programs that portray Israel as a stronghold of democracy in the Middle East, as well as a staunch U.S. ally.
Taking the lead in new options for Israel studies at American universities, we support a Koret Distinguished Visiting Fellow for Israel Studies at the Hoover Institution, bringing to campus high-level Israeli policymakers and scholars in fields ranging from national security and foreign policy to economics, history, political science, and law. Principal objectives are to help counteract imbalances and misunderstandings about Israel, and to bridge the existing gap in knowledge about Israel in the American academy.
In addition, support for the Jewish National Fund’s Caravan for Democracy—High School Edition helps high school students to prepare for the misinformation about Israel that they may encounter when they enter college. Programs that take professors and students to Israel to educate them about the Jewish state are also funded.
Among these are programs presented by the Israel Center that present the Middle East from a broad-based, historically accurate perspective, and programs that engage Israeli musicians, writers, artists, and filmmakers to showcase their rich and lively history and culture.
