K-12 Education
Combining policy analysis with a grantmaking program that supports market-based reform measures for the K–12 educational system, Koret effectively works to enhance educational quality.
Our Koret Task Force on K–12 Education at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University has led the national conversation on education reform – researching, analyzing, and recommending measures to improve public education.
K-12 Koret grant awards favor programs that:
- advance education policy to improve academic outcomes;
- contribute to reinforcing choice, transparency, and accountability in K-12 education;
- promote entrepreneurialism and market-based competition throughout the K-12 educational system;
- create and sustain high academically performing charter school models;
- encourage the highest performing schools to develop and disseminate replicable models.
Koret's strategy is to exert external market pressure on public school districts to encourage excellence. By supporting alternatives to existing bureaucracies, we can create a powerful driver for public schools to improve – and the students are the winners.
