San Francisco Opera

Exploring new technologies to reach broader audiences. That's the idea behind the Koret Taube Media Suite, which has captured national attention and enabled the San Francisco Opera to do live simulcasts at nontraditional facilities such as AT&T Park.

In collaboration with Taube Philanthropies, the Koret Foundation provided capital support for this state-of-the-art media suite that was the first permanent high-definition, broadcast-standard video production facility installed in any American opera house. In 2011, Koret also provided support for the SF Opera's Orpheus program, a "next generation" campaign launched in 2008 to identify and cultivate younger professionals who are passionate about opera and the organization and who, one day, could serve on the organization's board of directors or in other leadership roles within the organization. Koret's support for these two efforts will enable the SF Opera to continue to be a civic force in the Bay Area for many years to come.

Since 1982, Koret has been a strong supporter of the SF Opera in recognition of its role as one of the leading cultural institutions on the West Coast. The Foundation has recently taken a special interest in helping the Opera prepare for the future, providing both capital grants and programmatic support to initiatives that will enable the organizations to reach new audiences and stay relevant for years to come.
