KQED

In collaboration with Taube Philanthropies, Koret is pleased that KQED was the presenting station for the PBS national broadcast of Irena Sendler: In the Name of Their Mothers, the story of young Polish women who risked their lives to save 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto during World War II.

Together, the two foundations provided funding for the documentary and for underwriting support for the broadcast. (The Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture has memorialized Irena Sendler with an award in her name presented to a non-Jewish Pole who has worked to preserve Jewish heritage in Poland.) The Koret Foundation has been a long-time supporter of KQED, one of the country's largest public media organizations. Its philanthropy for KQED has ranged from support for its popular TV news and radio broadcasts to special projects and large capital campaigns.
