Koret is moving toward solicitation-style grantmaking. If you have received a grant from Koret previously, please make your initial contact with your program officer. Otherwise, please review our application guidelines and send us a Letter of Inquiry of three pages or less, addressing the application guidelines criteria and describing:

  • The goals or objectives to be achieved and how your organization will meet them
  • The need or challenge being addressed
  • The population(s) and geographical area(s) served
  • Your organization's experience and expertise related to the proposed program
  • The amount sought from Koret and the time period over which the grant will be spent

Please also include the following:

  • IRS determination letter verifying the applicant has 501(c)(3) status
  • Current fiscal year operating budget for the entire organization
  • Proposed program budget

Please send your Letter of Inquiry to:

Chief Program Officer
Koret Foundation
33 New Montgomery, Suite 1090
San Francisco, CA 94105

If the project described in your Letter of Inquiry meets Koret’s priorities and guidelines, and we determine that Koret would like to invite a full proposal, your application will be assigned to a program officer who will conduct a review and request additional information including, but not limited to:

  • The key features of the proposed grant
  • Most recent audited financial statements
  • List of board of directors with directors' primary professional affiliations
  • Sources and amounts of support for the entire organization, including committed and pending sources of funding
  • Evaluation plan for the proposed program

The time from receipt of Letter of Inquiry through staff review, evaluation and board decision can take approximately six months. Please note that Koret receives many more applications than we are able to fund.

We do not currently accept grant requests by email.
